The Finnish Society of Neonatal Nurses was founded in 1992 in Helsinki, Finland. There are members troughout Finland, as well as worldwide.
The goals of the society are to
- Develop Finnish neonatal care by teaching NICU staff. We organize and sponsor national study days around Finland on current topics in neonatal care.
- Increase knowledge about developments in neonatal care educational visits to hospitals worldwide. Many of our members participate in neonatal congresses around the world, and report their findings in our journal.
- Promote networking, becnhmarking and exchanging of ”best” and new neonatal care practices around Finland. In the bi-annual journal, care, NICU and PICU unit features, and nursing focused articles bring members up to date information. Over 400 articles have been published in 15 years.
- Provide financial support. The society grants scholarships for its members to attend congresses and educational events.
The organization’s language for communacion is Finnish.
